Please consider attending LUMUN’s AGM this coming Friday. The meeting will last approximately one hour and will be followed by a reception.
WHAT: Annual General Meeting of the Lecturers’ Union of MUN (of which you are currently a member) + Reception
WHEN: Friday, 4 November, at 5 p.m.
WHERE: the Sally Davis Seminar Room in the Science Building (SN-4087)
WHO: All LUMUN members, whether or not you have signed a blue membership card!
During the meeting you will hear brief reports from the President, the Treasurer, the auditor who recently completed the first audit of LUMUN’s finances, and a member of the committee investigating a potential affiliation with CAUT (see below).
The meeting will also include an election of these positions on the Executive Board:
President
1st Vice-President
2nd Vice-President
Treasurer
Secretary
If you would like to run for a position on the Executive Board, the Nomination Process is quite simple:
1. Ensure that you’re a member in good standing by submitting a completed blue LUMUN membership card. These were recently distributed to mailboxes around campus and will also be available at the AGM.
2. Submit a Nomination Form (2011-nomination-form-for-lumun-elections), signed by you and by two other LUMUN members in good standing. These forms are also available at the LUMUN office (Earth Sciences Building, Room ER-4052) and will be available at the AGM. Nomination forms may be submitted up to and including the commencement of the AGM, as per LUMUN’s Constitution.
Our first Collective Agreement with MUN will expire on 31 August 20112. The LUMUN Executive would like to hear about the kinds of issues affecting you as a Per-Course Instructor at MUN and what you would like LUMUN to press for during the next round of negotiations.
MEMBERSHIP IN CAUT: Would you like your union to become a member of Canada’s premier faculty association, the Canadian Association of University Teachers? We will discuss this issue at the AGM. Members in good standing will vote on whether or not LUMUN should join CAUT.
For further information about this association, please read the attached Report on CAUT membership (lumun-report-on-caut-membership1) and visit CAUT’s website (www.caut.ca).
Do come out to the AGM and let your voice be heard.
